An
email or Internet fax is using your email system and the Internet
to send
and receive faxes. Anytime. Anywhere. Instead of using a fax
machine and an extra fax
phone line - you use your existing email system and an Internet
Fax Service Provider.
Internet or eMail Fax is easy, quick, and accessible anywhere
you travel. Plus - no start up fees, no extra phone line,
no fax machine and no more paper jams!
Incoming faxes are usually delivered to you
as an email, with the fax as a file attachment. This file
attachment will usually be a TIF format file, or it can be
PDF, JPG or other formats.
You set up a local or toll-free number with
one of the Internet Fax Service Providers and you receive
and send faxes to your fax number using email.
You can use a Web Interface (online site)
or you can use an email program like Windows Outlook. Some
Internet Fax Providers also give you a free desktop application
download that you can place on your desktop to receive and
send faxes. Most will also work with Windows Office Documents.
Because it is email and the Internet - you
can access your faxes wherever you have the Internet. This
is ideal for mobile professionals, business travelers and
for the ordinary person on vacation!!
To view these faxes or File Attachments you
need a viewer. Most computers or users have Adobe Acrobat
Reader which can read PDF files. Windows has a built-in viewer,
in the most recent version of Windows, just double-clicking
the attachment will bring up the Windows
Fax Viewer automatically. You can then zoom in and out, move
between the fax pages, or even edit the fax.
It is usually not recommended that you use
any Graphics program like Paint Shop Pro to read faxes. |
